About me

Hello, my name is Michael Ackerman and I am an aspiring artist.   It all dates back to when I was a child.  My father developed type II diabetes from the Vietnam War and went blind when I was five.  I tried to do my best to help out my family growing up so much that I never really had an idea what I wanted to be when I grew up.  I went to school for business and computers but it never really seemed like it was my true calling.  Fast forward to when I was 23 and sadly my father passes away.  That is when I decided to take up painting.  Art was my new therapy and it made me happy again.  I began to experiment with different styles and techniques.  I was getting better with each painting and felt like this could be the road I was supposed to be on.  My collection grew more and more and I was getting little shows at local libraries and places like the YMCA.  As the years went on I improved my abilities through a lot of hard work and practice and began to receive the attention of a larger market.  Now I can say art is my passion.  I have had major achievements that I never thought I would be able to accomplish.  My work has been showcased in places like barbershops, restaurants, hospitals, businesses, Parade of Homes, etc.  I have also done commissions for the likes of NBA, NFL, and NCAA players.  Art has allowed me to meet some wonderful people and I am extremely grateful for all the opportunities it has given me.
